Reading (and Life) Update 4.23.19

Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!

Okay, the last couple weeks have been brutal. I ended up kind of sorta relapsing, and spent some time away from school. I didn't leave Flagstaff, but I stayed with a friend off campus for a couple of days to recuperate and take stock of all that's been going on. Needless to say, it kind of sucked.

But I'm feeling much better now, and that's the important thing.

Also, big news! I'm getting baptized next week!! I'm so excited for this, I've never felt more sure about anything in my whole life. I decided two weeks ago that I was going to do this, and it was like this huge weight was taken off my shoulders. I'm ready to take this next step in my life.

Anyway, how was Easter weekend for you all? I went down to the valley to celebrate one of my friend's 21st birthday, and it also gave me a chance to see my boyfriend, as he lives in the valley and works seven days a week and cannot come up here to Flag to see me, and I don't have my car so I can't go down and see him. So it was pretty nice to be able to spend the weekend with him.

Okay, let's get into the books. I decided to DNF The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was just so hard to read! The POV kept bouncing from character to character without any indication, and I felt like the writing style was so immature. I'm sure if I had first read it when I was fourteen, I would've loved it, but it just didn't make any impact on my 21-year-old brain. I was about a quarter of the way in.

I finished The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker. My review is now available if you want to check it out (The Silence of the Girls: Review (Spoilers!)). I thought it was a pretty decent read, though not my favorite.

I picked up and devoured Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. Wow!! I can't believe I hadn't read it sooner. I mean, its been on my TBR for months now, but I never was able to get my hands on a copy. Finally I was able to snag an e-book from my library (courtesy of Libby--by the way, this isn't sponsored, I just really like Libby). Five stars! I'm planning on posting my review later this week.

I'm still working through Howl's Moving Castle. I know, I know, it's been like three weeks since I started this book. I just have to be in the right mood to read it, and with my relapse and everything I wasn't in the mood to read anything, so I just haven't picked it up in forever. Although, now that I'm feeling better, I'll probably finish it later this week.

Okay, I think that's all I have for now. Until next time!
