March 2019 Reading Wrap-Up

Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!

Today, as you can tell from the title, I'm going to be talking about the books I read in the month of March. Now, book wise, I only read four books, however one of those books was nearly 900 pages long, so I think I still did pretty good. But without any further ado, let's get into my (short) wrap-up!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (5 stars)
Page count: 848 pages
Read from: Feb. 27 to Mar. 21
Goodreads Review (if applicable): Wow. I just...wow.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book as magical and atmospheric as this. I’m happy that I took my time with it, savoring each page of this masterpiece. The amount of detail in these pages rivals the master of world building himself, JRR Tolkien.

If you haven’t picked this book up yet, you are doing yourself a disservice. I cannot recommend this work enough.
Final thoughts: Is it too early to say this is my favorite book of 2019? Even if it is, it's definitely up there. Look out for it in my "19 Favorite Books of 2019" video at the end of year, because I have no doubt it'll be there.

2. The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro (4.5 stars)
Page count: 317 pages
Read from: Mar. 17 to Mar. 18
Goodreads Review (if applicable): GODDAMN THAT ENDING THO

It’s a good thing I have the case for Jamie all ready because I’m not sure I would have been able to stay sane for a whole year after that.
Final thoughts: I really liked the little snippet of Charlotte's POV at the end of the book when Jamie was incapacitated. I am falling hard and fast for these characters.

3. The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood (3 stars)
Page count: 198 pages
Read from: Mar. 17 to Mar. 24
Goodreads Review (if applicable): N/A
Final thoughts: Eh? It was really hard to get into it, but I'm still glad that I bought and read it.

4. The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro (4.5 stars)
Page count: 349 pages
Read from: Mar. 18 to Mar. 31
Goodreads Review (if applicable): The only reason I’m docking a .5 star is because I didn’t start really flying through this book until 200 pages in, once Charlotte and Jamie were reunited. And then EVERYTHING HAPPENED.

Also that epilogue made me smile so stupidly. I can see that it was supposed to be the ending of the series, though I am so ridiculously happy that there is still another book left of my children.

Once again a huge thank you to Rocky for getting me into this series.
Final thoughts: Once again, I'm really happy that I had A Question of Holmes on me as soon as I finished this book, because I am not a fan of waiting to find out what happens. This one was probably my least favorite of the series though, at least so far anyway. Though I'm pretty sure the fourth one is better than this one, from the 100 pages I've read of it so far.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total pages read: 1,712 pages
Favorite book of March: The Priory of the Orange Tree
Least favorite book of March: The Penelopiad
Currently Reading: A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro

And there you have it! A pretty slow book month, but action-packed and romance-filled, and this month honestly made me really happy. I'm excited to see what April will bring!

Until next time!
