The Rapid Fire Book Tag!
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
Honestly, this week has been seriously crazy so I figured I would do something quick and easy, ergo a book tag. Today I'm doing the Rapid Fire Book Tag, which was originally created by Girl Reading on Youtube.
There are a lot of questions so let's just get into it!
---
1. E-book or physical book?
A few years ago I would have immediately said physical books, but now that I read so many e-books from my library because it's still closed to the public and e-books are the only way I can still borrow books from the library, I say it's 50/50 now. Though I never buy e-books.
2. Paperback or hardcover?
I love a good floppy paperback. Almost always I will choose to purchase a paperback over a hardcover, unless a paperback isn't available.
3. Online or in-store shopping?
In-store shopping, always! Though, I'm definitely more frugal when I do online shopping, probably because of all the extra costs like the shipping and tax.
4. Trilogies or series?
I like trilogies, they're nice and succinct, and usually they have a set story arc.
5. Heroes or villains?
Hmmmm.....probably villains, actually. They're so fascinating to read about.
6. A book you want everyone to read?
Easy, and I'm sure you all will know what I say before I even say it. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
7. Recommend an underrated book?
....The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho--nah, I'm just joking. That's probably one of the most read books on Goodreads, it has millions of reviews. Hmm, and underrated book...I'll go with The Chaos of Longing by K.Y. Robinson. It's a poetry collection and it's beautiful.
8. The last book you finished?
The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkif, I finished it last night.
9. The last book you bought?
Yesterday I went book shopping (again) and I bought a ton of books, so I'll just say one: Small Favors by Erin A. Craig, one of my most anticipated books of the year.
10. Weirdest thing you've used as a bookmark?
I usually just use bookmarks as bookmarks, but once I used my phone because I was in a rush.
11. Used books: yes or no?
Umm, yes! I love going to used book stores and thrift stores, you can find so many great gems for a fraction of the price! Probably 60% of my book collection are used books.
12. Top three favorite genres?
Fantasy (adult or YA), historical fiction, and I guess literary fiction?
13. Borrow or buy?
Both! I love using my library but if I am really looking forward to a book or I've already read it and liked it, I'll go and buy it.
14. Characters or plot?
I'm definitely more of a character driven reader, but there needs to be some semblance of a plot in a story for me to like it.
15. Long or short books?
I love a good tome. Most of my books are 400 or more pages.
16. Long or short chapters?
I actually like short chapters more, because I'm definitely the kind of reader that can't stop reading unless I reach a natural break, like a chapter. Like, I can't stop in the middle of a page, otherwise I get all weird about it. So having short chapters means it's easier for me to stop reading, let's say, at night before I go to bed or something.
17. Name the first three books you think of!
Uhhhhh...Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, Dark Waters by Katherine Arden, and The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. There.
18. Books that make you laugh or cry?
I love a good emotional read that will make me shed a tear or two. It's much harder to get me to laugh out loud to a book than to get me to cry while reading. The book has to really catch me off guard in order to make me laugh.
19. Our world or fictional worlds?
Does anyone actually prefer our own world over fictional worlds? Umm, I'll be in Camp Half-Blood, thank you very much.
20. Audiobooks: yes or no?
I would say no. Audiobooks are such a hit or miss for me, and I typically read along with the book if I have an audiobook anyway, so I really don't see the point. I'm not much of an audible learner.
21. Do you ever judge a book by its cover?
Absolutely, all the time. Most of the time it's positive, a sort of "Wow, this book is gorgeous, I bet I'm going to love it!" rather than the more negative side of things.
22. Book to movie or TV adaptations?
I've preferred movies over TV adaptations. Like, I love the concept of turning a book or book series into a TV show, because then you can get way more detail in there rather than a movie, but the TV adaptations I've watched didn't really hit the mark for me.
23. A movie or TV-show you preferred to the book?
Definitely Matilda by Roald Dahl, the movie is so much better than the book. Also The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, I just recently read that and I found it so boring, but the movie is one of my favorites.
24. Series or standalones?
It depends on the genre. If it's fantasy, then a series all the way. But if it's historical or literary fiction, then I prefer standalones.

Alright, that was a lot of fun! I hope you guys enjoyed reading my answers to these questions. If you want to do this tag yourself, feel free to say that I tagged you!
Until next time!
