Reading Update 8.4.19
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
Wow, has this been a week. I've gotten so much done and yet I feel like I haven't accomplished a single thing. It's been weird, that's for sure. So I thought I'd just update you guys on what I'm reading and my life in general. I only have two more weeks of summer and then school starts back up again, so I really have to make the most of having all the free time in the world, by reading as much as I possibly can.
This weekend in particular has just been crazy. My parents are out of town so I'm home alone, meaning I have to water the plants and take care of the house, etc. etc. However I was also instructed to go buy myself some new clothes for school, as I'm lacking a bit in the wardrobe department. So I went to Kohls and went straight to the clearance section, because let's be real that's the only way to shop. Because of this I only spent forty dollars, but I got two pairs of jeans, a dress, and four tops. God bless clearance sales. And even more blessings, I had so much clothes money left over that I went and treated myself to a nice Barnes and Noble book haul (maybe I treated myself a little too much, I should've probably kept some money left over for a rainy day...). So now I have eleven new books on my shelves, two of which I've already read and were on my wishlist, and the read are unread books that I've been wanting for ages. I finally own Amanda Lovelace's poetry collections! They're so pretty!!

I'm planning on reading them today and adding three new books to my Goodreads challenge, because I seriously need it.
Outside of these, I'm also (still) reading The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson and The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and I'm also reading The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken on e-book. I've found that I go through e-books a lot quicker than physical books, so Prosper Redding isn't taking me very long to finish. Not to mention it's a middle grade, so it's already easier to read than my other current reads. Once I finish those books, or at least one of them, I'm probably going to pick up Lovely War by Julie Berry. I bought it a couple of days ago and it's been calling my name ever since. It's probably one of the most gorgeous books I have ever seen.
It's a historical romance set in World War II Paris, which wouldn't grab my attention normally as I tend to dislike both romance and historical fiction (especially those set in WWII, since I've had to read so many of them for school), but this book is narrated by Aphrodite. As in, the Greek goddess of love. So yeah, I had to get it. Plus, Heathur from the booktube channel aphroditereads has been raving about this book and we have extremely similar reading tastes, and we're both mythology hoes, so I trust her opinion.
I'm going out for dinner with my best friend Angela and her boyfriend tonight, so I won't be able to get any reading done, but hey, free pizza! I'm definitely not complaining. I've got about two hours until then, so I'm going to read my Amanda Lovelace collections until they come and pick me up.
Until next time!
