Book Aesthetic Boards: Reading Update 8.12.19
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
It seems like it's been forever, but I finished a book last night! I finished Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson and ooooooh boy did I love this. I was wary of picking this book up because I DNF'd her first book, An Enchantment of Ravens, but honestly I think that was the subject material and not her writing. I'm not a big fan of Fae or books that deal with Fae-like creatures. But a magical library filled with grimoires? Sign me the fuck up.
However, I'm still working on The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson, and The Secret History by Donna Tartt. It's slow going but I'm confident I'll finish both by the end of the month, and finally have them off my current reads shelf! Aside from those books, I have two books on my (BRAND NEW) Kindle from the library that I need to finish, and I have one more book on my TBR for this month, as it's a book club book (Books with Friends, hosted by Chloe from BookswithChloe and Spencer from CommonSpence), and that is The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. Sorcery of Thorns was also a book club book, the Bookmarked book club hosted by the Bookmarked team: Zoe from ReadbyZoe; Hannah from A Clockwork Reader; and Hailey from Hailey in Bookland. I only ever participate in book clubs when I simultaneously have the book they're reading, and I haven't already read it. I tend not to re-read books unless I really want to.
Speaking of re-reads, I also need to re-read The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, to finish out my third re-read of the series. My friend Angela is borrowing my books so she can read them for the first time, but she doesn't have the fourth one because I still need to read it. I'll let her borrow it once I'm done.
Yesterday I delved into the obsession of creating book aesthetic boards, and oh boy is it fun. I've done four already, because they do actually take a lot of time to create and get just right. But I thought I would share the ones I have made so far with you here.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
I loved making these so much, they were so fun to play around with. I hope I did the books justice. I'm planning on doing a lot more today, and they'll all be on my instagram (@allyemreads) and on my twitter (@AllyEmReads) if you want to check them out.
Until next time!
