Feeling Slumpy | Reading Update 7.10.22
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
How are y'all doing? Have you been eating? Have you had any water today? Have you taken any medication you need to take? If you haven't done these things, take this as your gentle reminder to do so. It's important to take care of your body, even if your head is in the deep end.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's talk reading. So far in the month of July I've read five books (three novels and two manga volumes) and I'm working on the next novel right now. However I'm still feeling kind of slumpy. I really like the book I'm currently reading (The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin) but I'm having trouble motivating myself to actually pick it up, and I'm reading it very slowly, only about 50-100 pages a day.
As I've mentioned before, there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking your time while reading a book. Everyone reads differently, at their own pace, and personally my reading pace can speed up or slow down without a moment's notice. It doesn't necessarily have to do with my mental health, but that is definitely a contributing factor. I had expected to really fly through The Fifth Season in particular, since everyone says that its amazing and you don't want to put it down etc. etc. And like I said, it's not as though I'm struggling to get into it. I'm just...not in the reading mood.
I'm not in any mood, really. I try to read, and I get maybe 50 pages through before I feel bored and want to stop. I turn on an anime (I'm currently doing a rewatch of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as well as watching Hunter x Hunter for the first time) and watch an episode, if that, and I'm ready to move on. I haven't touched any video games for ages, and the last time I drew something was months ago (which ironically is something I drew while in my last slump). I just don't know how to occupy my time anymore.
What I drew during my last slump. It's not much but I was pretty proud of it at the end of the day. |
If anyone has any ideas of how to spend my time, please let me know! Preferably something that can be done indoors, as it is 110 degrees Fahrenheit every day now, and I'd rather not spend any time outside if I don't have to. Also I have zero money so it would have to be something where I don't have to buy anything. I know that is rather limiting but I'm actually really desperate for some stimulation.
Well, I think that's all I have for today's update. I've got a summer reading recommendations post coming soon, so look forward to that. And hopefully the next time I talk to you guys, I'll be feeling a lot better.
Until next time!
