Redoing My Room Pt. 1 | Reading Update 6.20.21
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
(Also, Happy Father's Day to all those great dads out there, including my own.)
So I've been wanting to redecorate my room for months now, but just haven't had the means to do so. Until now! I decided this past weekend that I was going to start the process, buy what I could, and then I'll continue to renovate as I am able.
For references, I show my old bookcase in this reading update from last year. That worked fine for a while but soon I had too many books and it was just not practical. For the rest of my room, I have a mini room tour on tiktok here. As you can see, my bedroom was just super crowded and not really functional anymore. I want to create a space where I actually feel comfortable and relaxed when I walk in, instead of anxious of how little space there is.
So with the help of a few friends, I moved some furniture around and also assembled some new stuff. I got rid of my old dresser and put two brand new bookcases in its place.
Where my cube bookcase was originally, I now have my desk.
It fits perfectly in this space, and I still have plenty of walkway space to actually get into my room. I also love that when I'm sitting at my desk I can see into the room across from me, which is my mom's craft room/the tv room, where my parents spend most of their time. So now I'll be able to see my mom while she's scrapbooking, and she'll be able to see me while I'm working at my desk!
Lastly, I have Mochi's bed and my reading chair where my desk was.
I don't love the chair I have right now, which is one of those bungee chairs that you sink into. I have it covered with a blanket because I don't like the feeling of the ropes. I'm hoping to get a proper reading chair soon to replace it. But now I can actually open my blinds comfortably, which helps brighten up my room considerably.
I don't know when I'll be able to finish the second half of my redecorating, but I'll be sure to update you guys once I do.
As far as reading goes, I'm in the middle of three different books: The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang, Don't Tell a Soul by Kirsten Miller, and One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I've been kind of slumpy the past few days so I haven't really been reading, but I'm hoping to turn that around soon.
I have to go make dinner, I'm so hungry, so I'm gonna go. Until next time!
