The Among Us Book Tag

Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!

I, like so many other people of the world, love the game Among Us. I have a designated group that I play with. The game really took the world by storm in the fall of last year, in the second wave of quarantine gaming (the first being, of course, Animal Crossing).

Among Us is an online game where you are a character on a spaceship trying to complete certain tasks before it crashes. However, there is an imposter among you, who is trying to kill everyone on board. It's a race against time to see who wins first. The graphics are super fun and I love that kind of anxiety you get while playing this game, it is similar to how you feel watching a horror movie or playing a horror game, but it won't give you nightmares. It's also hilarious when you get the imposter role, because you can see how creative you can get trying to get away with killing the crewmates.

(By the way, I play as Orange. My accessory is varied, but I usually do the plant top so I look like a carrot.)

So today, I will be doing the Among Us Book Tag, created by @theglitterybookworm on Instagram. There are only five questions so let's just get into it!

---

1. Lobby - the next book on your TBR

I typically read multiple books at once, so I'll just tell you what I have reserved from the library right now. I'll probably pick up The Archive of the Forgotten by A.J. Hackwith next, just because someone else is on hold after me so I won't be able to renew it. But I also have Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, Ring Shout by Djeli P. Clark, and Unnatural Magic by C.M. Waggoner in my loans.

2. Crewmate - an author you trust

I have a few that are pretty obvious: Rick Riordan, Victoria Schwab, Maggie Stiefvater, to name a few. I'll also put Madeline Miller and Brandon Sanderson in there as well, because I know what I'm getting from both of those authors.

3. Imposter - a book that betrayed you

I'm going to go with My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Otessa Moshfeg. I just...hated this? And everyone else loved this? I don't get it, honestly. And the way everyone describes this book, it makes me feel like they're all playing one massive joke, or I just read a different book than them. It makes no sense how so many people are in love with this book.

4. Tasks - a book that took you a long time to finish

Typically I read books pretty fast, I try to never take longer than a month to finish one (which is an outlier in and of itself, since I typically finish a book between two to seven days). So when it takes me longer than that to finish a book, it's really weird. Thinking back on the last few years, I only had a handful or books like that. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett was one, The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson was another. Recently it took me about two months to read Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, which was just a waste honestly.

5. Sabotage - a book that surprised you

I had not expected to absolutely fall head over heels in love with Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie, but I did. This is now one of my favorite books of all time. It's so tragic and emotional, and I was full on sobbing when I finished it. It definitely isn't for everyone, and I recommend looking up trigger warnings for it before reading, but if you think you can handle the topics that are covered, I absolutely think you should try it out.

Okay, there you have it! I tag anyone who wants to do this! Also, tell me in the comments your Among Us character skin. I find it fascinating to see what people choose and why.

Until next time!
