Demon Slayer: Infinity Train Movie! | Manga Mondays
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
I've got a special Manga Monday for y'all today: I went and saw the Demon Slayer movie with Angela in theaters on Friday! It was everything I hoped for and more, I was completely blown away.
The movie follows the Infinity Train arc, which is the seventh major arc in the manga. After having been healed from their last mission, our protagonists Tanjiro, Zenistu, Inosuke, and Nezuko are tasked with joining the Flame Hashira Rengoku on the Mugen steam train, where passengers have been disappearing due to demon activity. The arc is eleven chapters long in the manga, so it made perfect sense to make it into a movie instead of only dedicating a few episodes to it in the anime.
As I said, this movie was fantastic. The day before, I had reread the arc in preparation, as I knew I would be doing a blog post on it, and the movie followed the manga to a tee. The only difference is they added an extra battle in the beginning, probably to get it to a certain length. Personally, I thought it was tastefully done. The animation was absolutely gorgeous, as expected, and the voice acting was brilliant. Especially Natsuki Hanae, who voices Tanjiro. He really put his all into this movie. And I actually squealed when I heard Akira Ishida's voice--he plays Akaza, the Upper Four demon. Akaza is one of the few demons that I'm obsessed with; I love his backstory and also his motivations. He's a fascinating character and I was so happy to see that they truly did him justice in the movie.
If you are familiar with the arc, you know how devastating it is, and let me tell you, the movie one hundred percent captured that feeling. I was crying pretty much through the entire thing. Angela and I were holding hands and slapping each other in practical hysteria. I'm glad that the theater was almost empty, otherwise we probably would have disturbed a lot of people.
Overall, 10/10 would recommend. Demon Slayer: Infinity Train will be in theaters until Thursday, April 29th, so if you want to see it, get tickets fast! If you're unable to make it to the theaters, then it will be available on digital platforms on June 22nd. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Until next time!
P.S. I tweeted about the movie and Funimation retweeted it?! And now these are the current stats:
