This Book is Taking FOREVER: Reading Update 6.29.19
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
It's been a while since I've done a good old-fashioned reading update, so that's what you're getting today. Surprise!
I'm still trying to finish The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. I started this book well over a month ago, and it looks like I won't be finishing it until July! I'm frustrated with myself. I just haven't been in the mood the past few weeks to pick it up. I absolutely love it when I do read, that isn't the problem. I'm just not much in a fantasy mood lately. Which honestly kind of sucks because fantasy is my most read genre. But I've been reading a ton of contemporary lately, I guess because most people associate summer with lighthearted reads and I'm apparently no different.
I've also been reading a lot of manga, courtesy of my library. I'm only reading two series at the moment, the first being Haikyuu!! and the second being Fullmetal Alchemist. I've read five volumes of the first and three volumes of the second, this month.
I've been trying to cut down my physical TBR so much lately but I just keep getting books from the library! And the books I'm checking out are all high on my list to read so I just want to read those instead of the books I own that I haven't read. Compared to other booktubers, I still have a pretty tame physical TBR, but 40 books is still a lot.
My mom also just bought me the entire Crazy Rich Asians trilogy by Kevin Kwan, so that's three more books I haven't read. But I'm super excited to read them, so thanks mom!
I don't tend to set monthly TBR's because I never actually stick to them since I'm such a mood reader, but there are books that I really want to get to next month, mainly because I got them from the library and/or borrowed them from friends. I absolutely want to read Two Dark Reigns by Kendare Blake so I can finish out that series (or finish what has been published, since I believe the fourth books Five Dark Fates is coming out this fall). Also that way I can do a series review. And I also really want to get to Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto in July because it's about phoenixes and I love phoenixes, so I want to read it as soon as I can.
Aside from all of that, I'm also reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho with my boyfriend. He isn't much of a reader but he does enjoy listening to audiobooks, so we've gotten into a habit of me reading a little bit of the book every night aloud before we go to sleep. We're starting with The Alchemist because it's the most impactful book I have ever read, and I really want him to know the story.
Other than that, I'm rewatching Haikyuu!! because I'm trash and I love this show with all of my heart. But it's been so hectic these past couple weeks that I haven't been able to do much of anything, which is sad. I'm hoping that July will be a little less crazy. Fingers crossed.
