The Halloween Book Tag
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
Sorry I've been MIA this month, it's been super hectic lately and I've barely been on my computer. But I thought I'd rally and give you one last post in October, so here is the Halloween Book Tag! I tried to find the creator of the tag in order to link y'all to her, but it looks like she is no longer a part of the bookish internet community. So I hope you'll settle for just me.
I've never done this tag before, so let's just get right into it!
==========
1. Favorite scary read for Halloween?
Hmm, I think I'll go with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. It's just such a childhood classic. If I'm not going scary though, definitely It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Charles Schulz. I mean, it's the Great Pumpkin! Try and name something more quintessentially Halloween.
2. The scariest book cover you know?
For me it would either be IT by Stephen King, or Empty Smiles by Katherine Arden. Clowns absolutely terrify me, so any book cover with a clown is a book cover I want to avoid.
3. If you could go Trick-or-Treating with any author, who would you pick?
Probably Edgar Allen Poe. He's so recognizable, but there are always a handful of kids who dress up as him every year, so he wouldn't really stand out. Plus, his poetry is so popular during the Halloween season and I think he would like seeing his legacy. I'd keep him away from the bars, though.
4. What bookish character would you dress up as for Halloween?
I've been a few bookish characters over the years: I was Hermione as a kid once, and Annabeth from Percy Jackson a few times in high school. Nowadays, I think I'd go as Arwen from The Lord of the Rings. All I would need is a pretty dress and some elf ears, you know?
5. What item (from any book) do you wish you could find in your Trick-or-Treating stash?
Oooooh, can I pick an animal companion? Is that allowed? Because if so, I want Temeraire so badly. He's the sweetest, most terrifying dragon ever and I love him. But if that doesn't count, then I think I would want a handful of the wishes from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I'm insanely jealous that Karou collects languages through wishing, and I definitely want the chance to do the same.
6. In what fictional world would you want to go Trick-or-Treating?
I feel like Trick-or-Treating is a pretty universal experience, no matter what world you're in. I guess I'll say the elven world in Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger, because the candies and pastries in that world sound like the most heavenly food ever. I definitely want to try butterblasts and Prattles.
7. What book villain would you not want to meet on Halloween night?
Sorry to do a repeat answer, but obviously Pennywise from IT. I think I would die from fear on the spot.
8. Would you rather dress up as a Vampire, Werewolf, Zombie, or Witch?
It's a no brainer, I'm a Witch all the way! I mean, technically I'm a witch in real life so it's not like it's too big a stretch. If I couldn't do that, I'd go with Vampire. The gothic aesthetic is always fun to dress in.
9. What HP candy would you want in your candy haul?
I think I would either want sugar quills or chocolate cauldrons. I'm not a fan of the prank sort of candies, so I'd rather have something tame in comparison. Although, fizzing whizbees do sound fun!
10. Favorite Halloween candy?
Definitely those caramel apple lollipops. It was an unwritten rule with my friends that I would get the caramel apple lollipops at the end of the night, when we would all go through our stash to sort and trade our goodies. I usually traded the filled gummi candies, because I couldn't stand the texture of them.

And that's all for the Halloween tag! Feel free to say that I tagged you if you want to do this tag yourselves.
Happy Halloween, friends!
