Anticipated Releases for 2022 | Pt. 2
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
At the beginning of the year I did a blog post detailing my most anticipated releases for 2022. However, I only did this up until June, because a lot of the books being published in the latter half of the year hadn't yet had covers, or a confirmed release date, or both. So now that it's June, I thought I would go over my anticipated releases coming in July until December. I've only got twelve books here, but if you want to see my entire list, I have a Goodreads shelf called "2022-books" that you can check out here.
I want to mention real quick that most of this list is either sequels or the next book in a series. Only three of these books are standalone novels, but since I read mainly series, I feel like that shouldn't be a surprise. Also, the dates I have next to the title and author are the dates that are on Goodreads. These, of course, are subject to change. I'm only using these dates as an idea of when the book is going to be released.
Alright, enough shop talk. Let's get into the books!
---
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers - 7.12
This is the sequel to A Psalm for the Wild-Built, and I'm actually shaking waiting for it to come out. I'm assuming that there will be more shenanigans between Sibling Dex and Mosscap, and I can't wait for the little adventures they're about to embark on. I hope that this becomes a long series, because I can't get enough of these characters or this world.
Empty Smiles by Katherine Arden - 8.09
The Drowned Woods by Emily Lloyd-Jones - 8.16
As far as I know, this is a standalone novel, but it seems to be in the same vein as her other book, The Bone Houses (which I read earlier this year and I loved it). It is set in the same world, but with a brand new cast of characters and new myths to follow. I really like Emily's writing, it's creepy and atmospheric and lends perfectly to the Irish (or in this case, Welsh) mythology she writes about.
Babel, or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators' Revolution by R.F. Kuang - 8.23
That's one heck of a title! I have to be honest here, I really have no clue as to what this book is about. I just know that I want it. I really enjoyed R.F. Kuang's historical fantasy trilogy The Poppy War (if one could call it enjoyment? That series is brutal, it rewrites the definition of brutal), so I'm excited to see what she has in store for us next.
Artemis Made Me Do It by Trista Mateer - 9.06
This isn't a direct sequel to her other poetry collection Aphrodite Made Me Do It, but of course a companion of sorts. Trista's poetry is very raw and atmospheric, and of course since she evokes the Greek goddesses, I have to check it out. I do have all of her other poetry collections, so I'm excited for when I can finally have this one in my hands as well.
The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik - 9.27
The third and final book in Naomi Novik's Scholomance trilogy, and I am not ready for it. The ending of book two, The Last Graduate, had me literally screaming at the pages. I've never felt that upset over a book before, it was a physical, visceral reaction, and I honestly applaud Naomi for being able to bring that out of me. So naturally, I've been waiting rather impatiently for book three to be announced, and now I'm counting down the days until I have it in my hands and can read it. I'm praying to every deity out there that this is the ending this series deserves.
A Scatter of Light by Malinda Lo - 10.04
Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater - 10.18
Into the Riverlands by Nghi Vo - 10.25
Stellarlune by Shannon Messenger - 11.08
Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan - 11.10
The Shattered City by Lisa Maxwell - 12.06
