What I've Been Reading/Watching Recently! | Manga Monday #16

Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to Manga Mondays!

This is the first Manga Monday that I've done this year, I'm so sorry for slacking on that! Truth be told I haven't been reading much manga or watching much anime (or any TV for that matter) in the past few months. It's been rather boring, to be honest.

Anyway, I thought I'd just go over the few series I have been prioritizing. This will be pretty short, so I apologize in advance.

Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi

I've gotten into Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi, and I'm really enjoying it so far! I've read the first seven volumes, and I have volumes eight and nine on loan from the library right now. Unfortunately, the library only has up to volume nine, so I don't know when I'll be able to read the rest of the series. I know it's an older serialization, having first been written in the 90s, but it's so cute! I think my favorite character so far is Killua. I'm hoping to start the anime soon, as well.

Mixed Vegetables by Ayumi Komura

I read the first two volumes of Mixed Vegetables by Ayumi Komura this month as well. It's a pretty cute shoujo about the daughter of a baker who wants to be a sushi chef, and the son of a sushi chef who wants to be a baker. It's full of antics and ridiculous scenarios, and the art style is very pretty. I especially love all the food. Considering how obsessed I became with Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, this comes as no surprise. My library only had these two volumes available, but I hope they can get the others too.

Spy x Family Season 1

The anime for Spy x Family came out a couple weeks ago, and it's adorable! There are only two episodes out currently, but it's everything I hoped for. I really love the manga so I hope the rest of the anime does it justice. I think Anya's animation and characterization fits her perfectly! I love the little sparkles that show up whenever she reads someone's mind. I'm pretty sure that Spy x Family is only available on Crunchyroll right now, so sorry to everyone who doesn't have access. Hopefully it'll be picked up by Hulu or Netflix soon.

Haikyu!! Season 1

I'm also rewatching Haikyu!! from the beginning, in the hopes that when I finish with season four, a season five will be announced. A girl can dream, can't she? I'm still on season one, on episode 7 or something like that. I'm taking my time with this rewatch, really appreciating the animation and the story. I've seen Haikyu!! at least three times over, so it's not like I don't know the story, but it's one of my favorites so I want to savor the time I spend with my boys.

Okay, that's all I have for today. Again, sorry this is so short, but hopefully I'll have some longer Manga Mondays in the future. If you have any ideas for MM topics, let me know in the comments or tweet at me @AllyEmReads.

Until next time!
