My Entire Physical TBR | 2022 Edition
Hey hi hello friends, and welcome back to my blog!
Last year, I was determined to read every book on my TBR. I showed my entire physical TBR, as it was in January of 2021, and said I would read every book in that stack by the end of the year.
Well, a year has past, and I have a new stack of unread books on my shelves. Some will be familiar, some are new. Spoiler alert: I didn't complete my goal from last year. I did get pretty darn close though, so I'm still pretty proud of myself. There are only five books that are being carried over from last year's list, and they're all monsters, so I think that I deserve a pass. Including those five leftovers, I have 36 unread books - that's nearly half of what I had last year!
And now, every unread book on my shelves, as of January 25, 2022.
2021 Carry-overs
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
(I know, some of these books have been on my TBR for years. I'm pretty sure that Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is the book I've had the longest on my TBR, at like five or six years. Completely ridiculous that I haven't read it yet. I'm just intimidated, it's huge! But I'll try my darndest to get to all of these this year.)
Standalones
The Idiot by Elif Batuman
The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
Daughters of Sparta by Claire Heywood
Horns by Joe Hill
Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata
After Dark by Haruki Murakami
My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell
How to Pronounce Knife by Souvankham Thamnavongsa
The Children of Hurin by J.R.R. Tolkien
By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept by Paulo Coelho
The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho
Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachinko
The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd
You Must Not Miss by Katrina Leno
The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel
Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi
The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
How Much of These Hills is Gold by C. Pam Zhang
(See any books in here that you're just dying for me to read? Tell me which book you want me to start with in the comments!)
Series (starters or sequels)
Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson
The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu
Middlegame by Seanan McGuire
Dragonspell by Donita K. Paul
Dragonquest by Donita K. Paul
Troy by Stephen Fry
(I'm honestly surprised I don't have more books in series on my TBR. It seems I'm shifting away from series into more standalones. Or maybe it's because I tend to read series faster than standalones. I don't know, we'll see at the end of the year I guess.)
Nonfiction
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
Know My Name by Chanel Miller
Death by Black Hole and Other Cosmic Quandaries by Neil DeGrasse Tyson
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
Thunderstruck by Erik Larson
(Honestly I wish this were a higher number. I'm finding my groove in what I like in nonfiction, which seems to be memoirs, obscure histories, and true crime. Never thought I'd be a true crime reader but they're so fascinating! This year I really want to bulk up my nonfiction collection.)

Well, that's my stack o' books! Tell me which book I should start with in the comments, or tweet at me @AllyEmReads. I'm not officially making it a goal to read all of these books this year, but it'd certainly be a bonus.
Until next time!
